Ontario Water Centre receives an Ontario Trillium Foundation 2016 Grow Grant of $750,000 over three years

November 14, 2016

The $750,000 grant enables the Ontario Water Centre (OWC) to begin an experiential learning program at the historic ClearWater at the Reed Farm to help Lake Simcoe kids become environmental leaders of the future.

ClearWater Farm at Willow Beach is being revitalized as a place-based learning centre and self-sustaining social enterprise. Educational principles of the programming being developed flow directly from Ontario’s environmental education curriculum and First Nations traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) principles – always part of Ontario Water Centre’s practices, and “grow” from the learnings of Toronto’s Evergreen Brickworks.

Chris Ballard, MPP Newmarket-Aurora and Loreta Pavesc, Ontario Trillium Foundation volunteer with Simcoe-York Grant Review, presented Annabel Slaight, OWC Chair, the plaque announcing the $750,000 grow grant.
