Trading Tree Book
The Trading Tree, overlooking Lake Simcoe at ClearWater Farm will soon have its own story written in Ojibwe and English.
This new children’s book, to be published at the end of May by the Prince’s Trust Canada is part of their series of children’s books to help preserve indigenous languages. The old tree “spoke” to the author Nancy Cooper and illustrator Heather Cooper and With the help of Milena Vujanovic through photo art, it takes kids to a time and place where pioneers and Chippewa families met and traded. The students from Georgina Island and Sutton also have stories of their own to share; what they liked best about creating the gardens at ClearWater to help the tree and the lake was making friends with each other. www.princestrust.ca
